Laura Mullen received her BA in English from UC Berkeley and her MFA in Poetry from the University of Iowa. Her numerous awards include Ironwood's Stanford Prize and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. Her first collection of Poems, The Surface (University of Illinois Press, 1991), was a National Poetry Series Selection. A "post-modern gothic," The Tales of Horror (Kelsey St. Press) is due in February of 1999, and a second collection of poems, After I Was Dead is forthcoming from the University of Georgia Press in April 1999. She teaches Creative Writing and Literature at Colorado State University.
